Why You Need to Carry a First Aid Kit with You If You Every Day Carry
Safety second, that’s what we always say. Why? Well, because you can’t DO anything if safety comes first. If safety comes first you don’t go anywhere, you don’t accomplish anything, and you certainly do not have any fun! So, that’s why we think safety should come second.
Now, don’t get the wrong idea. We aren’t saying you should disregard safety. That wouldn’t be safe. What we’re saying is that you have to put safety in its proper perspective.
Safety, when done right, is all about mitigating risk. We take risks with everything we do. The more we do, the more we accomplish and the more we enjoy life- the more risk we tend to take on. So our point is this, safety second- but safety ALWAYS. Okay, what does that mean? It means that you always take the best and most practicable safety precautions that are available to you.
You have no idea how many people have guns for self-defense, but no battery in their smoke alarm.
Safety second means go river rafting, go rock climbing, go skydiving, hunting, fishing, race, ride, and run. Do whatever makes your life worth living, enjoyable and fulfilling- but always take care of your safety concerns. Have a plan, have a partner, have a spotter, have a backup. Be prepared, be armed, be protected. Stay within reasonable risk parameters. Do what you want to do, but be reasonably safe. Safety second, but safety always.
