The March for Our Rights Protest the Mainstream Media Refused to Report On
It’s still hard to make it through a week without hearing about Parkland kids attacking gun rights. Their “big march” happened months ago and the media is still running ads with the group of kids who managed to let a bunch of professional organizers and billionaires stage a large protest on their behalf.
Since that event, many protests of the opposite persuasion have come and gone, and you’ve heard very little about them. In fact, the March for Our Rights protest just happened in cities throughout the nation, and chances are that you didn’t know anything about it.
The event took place this last Saturday. An organized set of marches happened in 13 different cities across the country. Locations included L.A., Philly and D.C. While it’s far from the first march for gun rights this country has seen, it’s particularly noteworthy because it was organized entirely by students. Essentially, students who don’t feel represented by the Parkland gun grabbers wanted to make their own statement, and they found impressive success.
You haven’t heard anything about this protest, and yet it gathered tens of thousands of marchers in each participating city. Across the country, well over 100,000 people joined the group.
We’ll talk about media coverage and support in a bit, but there’s another way this march separated itself from its liberal counterparts. There was no dangerous extremism. Looting, violence and littering were all conspicuously absent from the activities.
We’ll grant the media a small pass here. The complete lack of violence and terrible behavior does make this a less appealing story than most liberal protests. But, the sheer number of people gathered for the event should be newsworthy.
As a result of the media blackout it’s hard to get an accurate representation on the number of attendees that actually showed up. We do know that the Facebook group that served as the central planning point only has 11,000 members and that more than 11,000 people showed up in more than one city.
This once again takes us back to the despicable bias in media. If they were simply interested in building an audience and generating revenue, they would cover this event and draw support from the 100,000+ attendees and millions more Americans who agree with the cause.
Instead, they play hard-lined partisanism to try to tell us what to think. It’s no wonder they’re circling the drain. Nevertheless, it’s frustrating every time we have to endure this abuse of our intelligence.
Comparing to the Left
Media bias is old news, though. The real story here is how a group of students managed to put the Parkland kids to shame. Let’s compare the two marches and really blow this open.
The Parkland kids managed to rally a few hundred thousand marchers. They had massive media coverage, to the tune of hundreds of hours of total coverage, and incredible monetary support from corporate fat cats and anti-gun Hollywood elites like George Clooney and George Soros. It seems silly to pick on a bunch of teenagers, but anyone who couldn’t organize that much of a protest would be a pretty big failure. The march’s billionaire benefactors even provided free housing for protestors!
The March for Our Rights group had numbers on par with the Parkland kids. They did it with absolutely no media coverage. Go ahead. Search for a single publication, article or media-endorsed video on the event. If you can find it, please share with the rest of us. The picture above is actually from the March 2018 protest.
Additionally, these kids had no billionaire benefactors. No outside groups took the reigns for organization or management. It was a genuine grassroots movement with which a group of kids rallied many tens of thousands of Americans. This is how you really make a change in the world, and it shows that the traditional values of the right are raising kids who can make things happen on their own. It’s incredibly encouraging.
A single, successful march will not be enough to beat the Democrats and keep this country on a good track. But, it does give us hope for the next generation. They are already polling as significantly more conservative than the millennials, and they are beginning to show that they have the innovative skill and raw work ethic to steer this country in a good direction.
It’s up to the rest of us to hold things together and keep the crazy progressives at bay enough to give them that chance. Many of us thought we might never see the day when socialists were open and public about their beliefs and widely praised by mainstream media. That day is here, and only constant effort on our part can keep this situation from spiraling out of control.
