The Best Customization of an AR-15
Honest Outlaw Reviews is a great YouTube channel for starting debates among gun aficionados. A good case in point is a recent video titled, “The Best AR-15 Ever Made,” in which he shows off his custom-made AR-15 pistol.
It has some extremely cool modifications which are sure to spark some debate. As always, “best” is subjective for most people and it will come down to personal preference.
In this case, the best AR-15 ever made is equipped with a LANTAC Dragon muzzle brake, an 11.5″ magnesium rail and low-profile Magpul iron sights as a backup to the optics.
The rig is also equipped with one of the lightest 11.5″ barrels on the market. In addition to all of this the gun really has too many mods to mention in one short article, some of which may or may not be “legal” depending on what state you live in.
Honest Outlaw goes into painstaking detail in describing his custom-made gun and after watching the video, any decent gunsmith will be able to recreate the pistol in their own shop.
The biggest drawback of the “best AR-15 ever made,” if you decide to go the same route and build one for yourself, is the cost. He uses top of the line gear in most cases and doesn’t sacrifice on price. Then again, as he points out, this is his “go-to” firearm in a SHTF situation, whether he needs to defend his home or bug out.

Being a “senior” and a bit old school I grew up with heavy iron. Then off to the jungle with an M-16 A-1, kind of seemed like a toy at the time.
I think your AR is one of the finest I have seen. A real craftsman!

Really Neat. Would like one just like it. Totally unfamiliar with all of the normenclature and names. You talk too fast for me and playback didn’t help me. You said it can be bought, but didn’t say where ? You said it is expensive, but didn’t say how expensive? I would be interested in one exactly as the one you demo with optics and sling.

I put together a couple of AR – 15’s using middle of the road off the shelf products from a variety of vendors, nothing special really at all, but they both have been put through some pretty heavy use, mag dumps, bump firing thrown around a bit, dropped in the dirt etc… and they both shoot very well ( MOA accuracy) and run flawlessly, no jams, misfires, stove pipes, nothing, just a continuous stream of downrange lead and copper, all at a pretty decent price point, so as far as I;m concerned the ‘best’ AR – 15 is the one that does it’s job every time and all the various bells and whistles apart from specialty items like night vision etc.. are just a matter of personal preference.
