Born between 1980 and 2000, Millennials are the generation everyone is concerned about. They are the children of the late birthing years of the Baby Boom Generation. They are the products of helicopter parents. They are the “safe space” generation and they are profoundly “progressive,” as in progressing toward a full-fledged nanny state.
The Millennials remind us of the time-tested truism that ‘strong men make good times, good times make weak men, and weak men make bad times.’ They are too young still to go through the shift toward conservatism that comes with maturity- and they fully support Clinton-style progressivism.
This is to take the long route to say, they don’t understand how the world works. They believe government can make the world into a paradise if only the right laws are all in place. The good news is that the children of the Millennials are proving to be much more conservative than their hipster parents.
Thank God for the rebellious nature of children. It’s almost like nature gave us a biological safeguard against generational extremism.
But when it comes to gun rights, Millennials pose a significant problem. They support anti-second amendment laws that their congenitally wiser children might have a hard time taking down. Worse yet, they appear to be immune to reason. You see, they like guns- recreationally. But they also support laws that prevent law-abiding people from possessing them. In other words, they see guns as toys- not as an important foundation on which the freedoms we enjoy are established.
Broadly speaking, 55% of Americans agree that the nation would be safer if stricter gun regulations were put in place. Looking a bit closer, when you ask non-gun owners the same question, 60% support more gun control legislation and 42% of gun owners do not support additional gun control laws. But when taken as a group, whether gun owning or not, Millennials say they want more gun control at a rate of 61%. That means as a category- Millennials are more anti-gun than the general anti-gun population by a margin.
However, despite the fact that the millennial generation is more than happy to give up their guns- they are actively engaged in gun culture. Twenty-eight percent of Millennials are gun owners. In fact, millennial gun owners are 21% more likely than their more pro-gun parents to actually carry guns. Sense made = 0.
These findings are based on an Ipsos poll conducted in July of 2018. The study sampled over 2000 adults between the ages of 18 and 38. Respondents were drawn randomly from an online questionnaire. The overwhelming result of the data indicates a sort of generational cognitive dissonance where Millennials enjoy guns but do not see them as an artifact of a basic right and are willing to give them up if Big Mommy Government says they are bad.
What’s really interesting is how the liberal media is reporting on the same research. The government news organization, NPR looked at the similar numbers from Gallup poll and delivered this headline; “Millennials Are No More Liberal On Gun Control Than Elders, Polls Show.”
They looked at the numbers of gun-owning Millennials and simply assumed that because they own and enjoy guns, that they must be conservative. Zero sense made. The conservative standpoint on guns is that we recognize our good fortune of being born in the finest country on Earth, and we will defend it with force if we must. The Millennial gun owner says, ‘Guns are neat, but if the government says they are bad, then I will obey.’
Comedian Owen Benjamin distills this mindset saying, “Donald Trump is literally Hitler and guns are bad. Give your guns to Hitler!”
The NPR article goes on to discuss Gallup Poll data, quoting the organization’s chief editor, saying, “Sometimes people surprise us, and this is one of those instances that we don’t know why.”
The article goes on, “Over the past three years, his polling organization asked the under-30 crowd whether gun laws in the U.S. should be made more strict, less strict or kept as they are now. On average, people between the ages of 18 and 29 were 1 percentage point more likely to say gun laws should be more strict than the overall national average of 57 percent.”
This assessment fails to take the difference between gun owning and non-gun owning groups into account. In essence, the liberal publicly funded newsgroup is telling you that Millennials are not sufficiently left leaning and that that is objectively bad.

There is an unfortunate belief that laws are self-enforcing and effective. Neither is true. Criminals don’t obey laws; that’s why they’re criminals. Gun control doesn’t work perfectly, even in Australia or GB. But that last point is ignored by the MSM.
Laws do not REMOVE sin; laws only REVEAL sin.
The MSM and the gun control freaks refuse to recognize that the laws they harp about are already on the books and they do not work. They don’t work because the criminals do what they want to do …that’s why they are criminals! So why disarm the public so the crooks can run helter skelter doing whatever. Take a lot of the Democrat nuts in California. They make horrific gun laws and then tell the cops not to intercept the criminals. What the hell is that! Against the rules for police to chase a criminal once he drives off in a car to prevent high speed chases. Thatis one of the many reasons that Democrats must be voted out of office. They are stupid!
Owning guns is about having something to use against the government when they come to put your family up against the wall and shoot them. Ask the Russians, Germans, Chinese, and anybody else in the world. The only thing preventing total tyranny right now in the USA is that there are 300 million guns out there and government doesn’t know where they are.”
It is obvious to me, as I would hope it is to all, while knowing full well that cannot be true that millennial’s both love guns yet want gun control. Can it be that these millennial’ know nothing of the horrific murdering of over a hundred-seventy million citizens by their own governments during the 20th century? And that happened after those governments restricted and confiscated the guns. The oppressive socialist/communists who pose as democrats have infiltrated our educational system as well as our political parties and news media and therefore the holocaust and other catastrophic happenings in the world are no longer taught in our schools. But history must not be ignored or we will be bound to repeat those mistakes right here in the United States of America. As President Reagan said we are but one generation away from losing the freedoms of America.
To anyone who has paid attention it has been obvious for several decades now although it was not so obvious earlier however, this nations freedoms are systematically being destroyed and the culprits are the oppressive socialists/communists. It has been going on here in the United States of America ever since the fifties. However, it was not until Kennedy was assassinated that it started to become so obvious. Also it was more or less hidden until Obama came right out and promised his fundamental transformation. Approval was granted by the oppressive socialist/communist by the fanatical cheering when he, Obama, made the announcement about his transformation. Much was explained to those who listened carefully when in his next breath he also promised a federal police force just as well funded, trained and equipped as the United States Military.
It is a mystery why no one in the so called “democrats” party or the MSM asked any questions about either promise. Should someone have asked what is the fundamental transformation into? Does it enhance our Constitutional Representative Republic and free enterprise? Or does it destroy it and turn us into a communist state? Like what is happening in Venezuela right now. Why is a federal police force going to be needed now when for the past 240 plus years it has not been needed. Is the transformation going to require force and if so why is it. Does this federal police force mimic the German Brown shirts who made hitler the fuhrer and therefore solidified hitler’s power?
However, isn’t the real question whether or not such actions would start a necessary revolutionary/civil war for America to remain a free country? Seems knowing the past would confirm a definite absolutely will.
The right to keep and bear arms was put into the Bill of Rights for the very purpose of defending against a tyrannical government. If our current president, Donald J Trump, is unable to control those out to overthrow our Republic. That may yet come to pass.
So you see that is the urgency presented to us next November. Make no mistake ignoring what is happening here in the US right now is problematic! If ignored it can and may very well come back to bite all Americans. Not just those calling themselves democrats.
