Laws Aside, Gun Grabbers Are Hurting Our Freedoms
Gun grabbers never stop crying. In fact, they’ve probably filled an endless supplies of Ben Shapiro’s famous ‘Liberal Tears’ tumblers. We’re always on edge, ready to push back against any attempt by Congress to push more gun control. The thing is, the gun grabbers are winning even when the laws don’t change. They have a lot of tricks that help them attack freedom regardless of government participation. Today, we’re going to address the most dangerous of those.
Anyone who closely follows gun markets saw a lot of this during the Obama years. When a particularly large news cycle brings attention to guns, gun control or gun crimes, the immediate reaction from a lot of 2nd Amendment supporters is to buy the gun they’ve been eyeing before Congress passes a new law. For the last decade, those fears have been largely unfounded (at least on the national level). The result is that gun scares cause huge fluctuations in demand and make pricing rather volatile.
This is best seen by looking at the wake of the Parkland shooting. It was possibly the biggest rally for gun control this century. The fear of new gun legislation caused so many Americans to buy AR-15 platform rifles that the price jumped by as much as 20 percent in many areas. The average price now is well over $800. Why does this matter? We can answer that question with another. Do you have an extra $800 lying around waiting for you to buy a gun?
In the big picture, this is one of the smaller concerns tied to gun lobbying. But, under the right (or wrong) market conditions, liberal outcry could actually make a large number of guns unaffordable for most civilians. They could effectively curb gun ownership without drafting a single word of legislation.
In 2016, Stanford and Princeton collaborated on a study that showed that political affiliation was the top factor in discrimination. It ranked far above race, gender, religion, sexual orientation and everything else the left says is problematic. The two years since have shown us that this study was obviously correct, and those divides seem deeper today than ever. Calls for American unity aside, this study gives us hard proof of something many of us at least suspected for a while now. The left is willing to use political discrimination as a weapon.
Despite what we know about political discrimination, there are very few laws in the books that protect people and businesses from fallout. The highest profile example is the NRA. For no reason other than blind politics, a number of insurers have cancelled policies for the group. That lack of insurance has forced them to at least temporarily stop producing a lot of their content (mostly for NRA TV). The left is using this as a political play in the business arena, but the result is that a lot of law-abiding citizens suddenly have less access to gun safety and training videos. The liberals are easily making America more dangerous.
You can see many more examples of this with YouTube, Facebook and other tech companies unilaterally censoring right-leaning content. Since they don’t own the government (for a change), they’re stepping right around the law to infringe on our freedom on their own.
You might be thinking of Maxine Waters and her calls to harass Trump’s staff. That’s along the same lines, but it actually pales in comparison to what the gun grabbers have done. Journal News actually published the names of every private gun owner in their local region. They did it with an interactive map that made it easy for gun grabbers to find and harass these perfectly innocent citizens. The result was a massive wave of exactly what you expect. While the right to bear arms wasn’t impaired by this tactic, the rights to privacy and liberty were.
This is just one example. Gun grabbers across the country have used aggressive harassment techniques to try and cripple 2nd Amendment support. It may not be changing gun control laws, but there is no question that freedom is suffering.
All of this leads us to a tricky question: what do we do about it?
We could ask the government to step in, but giving them control of things like YouTube is dubious at best. On the other hand, we can’t simply ignore dangerous levels of harassment.
The best answer is multifaceted. We have to stand strong against liberal outrage. Expose the extremists at every interval and never let them get away with their violent tendencies. Completely stop doing business with companies that aim to control our lives. And, as always, stay active in the political arena.
The only thing that could be worse is if we let these wackos control Congress. America will only remain the best country in the world as long as we continue to protect her with our every breath.
Please vote in November.
