How to Bankrupt Your Sporting Goods Franchise with This One Weird Trick
Here’s a great quote I read the other day at the Captain’s Journal: The Second Amendment “clearly stipulates not that we may possess firearms of our own choosing, but rather that the government may not interfere with our choices.”
Amen to that! And now that corporate America has decided that it will implement fascism on Americans whether we want it or not, it is more important than ever for patriots to buy plenty of guns and ammo while we still can.
We received a great reminder of just how fascistic the corporate fascists in America are when Ed Stack, the CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods, appeared in a glowing piece on CBS Sunday Morning.
You can check out the full story in all its nauseating glory at the bottom of this page.
The very first quote from Ed Stack contained layers and layers of falsehoods:
“I don’t understand how somebody – with everything that’s gone on – could actually sit there and say, ‘I don’t think we need to do a background check on people who buy guns.’”
Huh? How is this guy a CEO of a corporation if he believes that to be a true statement?
Quick quiz: Name one person in Congress – just one – who has stated in the past 30 years that we do not need background checks on guns.
I personally hate the background check system, but I don’t make public policy and I’m not an elected official. I’m not aware of anyone with a big megaphone and a position of power who is saying we don’t need background checks, however.
Stack goes on to brag about how Dick’s Sporting Goods destroyed $5 million worth of “assault weapons” that it still had in its back inventory. This was done in response to the 2018 Parkland school shooting. More on the gun-destroying in a moment.
Stack and his trophy wife traveled to Florida to visit with the George Soros Crisis Acting Troupe and then they decided that they could really signal their virtue by becoming even more anti-gun than the store already was.
Dick’s also stopped selling firearms to 18- to 20-year-old adults after the Parkland shooting. This, of course, followed on the heels of Dick’s removing all AR-15s from its store shelves in response to the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting.
Regarding the destruction of Dick’s back inventory, here’s genius Ed Stack again: “I said, you know what, if we really think these things should be off the street, then we need to destroy them.”
Way to take those firearms “off the streets,” Mr. Stack! And by the streets, we mean, “the warehouse where they were gathering dust.”
In their rush to signal their fascist virtue, Stack admitted to a separate media outlet that they used “saws” to dispose of the evil firearms. Interestingly enough, the ATF’s guidelines for destroying firearms list only four suitable methods for carrying this task out: Cutting the guns up with an acetylene torch, shredding them, melting them or crushing them. That’s odd. The guidelines don’t mention cutting them up with saws.
Finally, the virtuous Ed Stack hints in the story that Dick’s may stop selling all firearms altogether. He says it’s “under strategic review.”
Dick’s Sporting Goods has now lost a quarter of a billion dollars in revenue due to its anti-gun stance, but oh well. For Ed Stack, that’s a small price to pay to force his fascist opinions on his own customers.
I’m even less infuriated by Stack’s anti-gun stance than I am by his fascist approach to the marketplace. Many of these large corporations are simply violating the social contract that’s always been in place in America, in order to try to reshape our nation into a socialist country. They’re saying to their own customers, “I refuse to engage in commerce with you, because you hold the wrong political opinions.”
Bank of America won’t issue loans to gun manufacturers, Chase Bank is closing the personal accounts of well-known Trump supporters, cities in California are refusing to do business with contractors that have known ties to the NRA, the NBA won’t stand up for free speech against China, the list goes on and on.
Remember the good old days when companies would do business with you, and didn’t care what your political beliefs are? Those days are gone.
And the anti-American fascists running stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods are willing to destroy their own companies as part of the struggle. Adjust your shopping habits accordingly.
