Florida Gun Owners March for Their Rights at the Second Amendment March

April 7th will mark the date for the Florida Region 5’s Inaugural open carry march to promote their rights under the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment. The event will take place from 9 am to 3 pm in Ocala, Florida and will commence at Martin Luther King Jr. Park and proceed to Tuscawilla Park. The march will be proceeded by some local area open water fishing for anglers of all levels.

The event is not limited to members but was conceptualized by the organization in response to the recent Florida legislation that is systematically attempting to strip the gun rights of law-abiding citizens in the state of Florida.

In the state of Florida, all citizens that are not prohibited from possessing firearms have the right to carry both pistols and long arms openly if they are in transit to or from such sporting activities as camping, hunting, target shooting, or fishing. This can be done without a license in the state as long as the owner has no restrictions on their ability to own or possess the weapon.

Organizers are hoping to show the legislature and gun control activists in the state of Florida that just like the anti-gun marches that took place last weekend, there is large support from citizens who still want to protect the Second Amendment and have solidarity when it comes to the fight against stripping them of their rights.

While gun activists have been continuing to push efforts throughout the past year, many have capitalized on the recent Parkland, FL shooting as a way to push forward their gun control agenda even if it would have had little to do to prevent the situation.

Some of the larger anti-gun march organizers, many of which receive funding from billionaire gun control activist Michael Bloomberg, including Moms Demand Action and Everytown, have especially capitalized on the events calling for Florida legislatures to strip the second amendment rights of many of their citizens.

The result of their efforts was the signing into law of SB 7026 by Florida Governor Rick Scott which promptly stripped all 18 to 20-year-olds of the right to own any type of firearm in the state, leaving a half a million citizens stripped of their right to self-defense overnight.

The law also made overnight felons of any firearm owner who had made alterations to their trigger after purchase even for something as simple as compensating for limited hand strength.

An attempted amendment to the bill included the banning of AR-15 style semi-automatic rifles which was pushed hard by gun control activists but failed to make the cut. Even with this small victory, it appears that the gun control activists are gaining the upper hand in the state of Florida and those who wish to exercise their second amendment rights may soon be left with nothing.

The upcoming march in Ocala, Florida is not only about showing solidarity it is also about using your constitutional right to the first amendment to ensure your protection of the second amendment. As a country, citizens are not allowed to pick and choose their rights, those rights were outlined by the founding fathers, and all of those rights need to stay protected.

Those looking to protect their rights can join in the march as well as choose other first amendment exercises to protest the growing anti-gun legislation in the state. One way in which supporters have begun their protests includes concealing their firearm within the parameters of Florida state law. This involves carrying your holstered weapon on a publicly owned property with a dust cover emblazoned with a print of a weapon on the cover.

This follows the parameter in Florida for not fully concealing your weapon and making it apparent what is under the cover. It is recommended to only try this on public property where you cannot be subject to trespass charges as you could on private property.

Others are joining in the protest by wearing shirts that say “Legally Armed,” as well as carrying their magazines uncovered. Join the protest in Florida and let the legislation know that you will not take their removal of your rights lying down.
