Democrats Take Nod from Obama and Weaponize the IRS against the NRA
You remember when Barack Obama directed the IRS to target members of the Tea Party in a blatant act of political tribalism. Well, it’s happening again. But this time, they aren’t even trying to hide the fact that this is pure political maneuvering.
Fearing upcoming election turnouts- as well as the revelations that Attorney General William Barr in regards to his investigation into the origins of the spying on the Trump campaign team, ranking members of the Left are once again directing the IRS to go after their conservative opponents.
Specifically, House Democrats are asking the Internal Revenue Service to investigate conservative political groups. They are targeting independent and larger conservative news outlets and political action organizations in an attempt to silence and terrorize them into being quiet.
It’s the same old one-two gut punch Democrats have pulled on their political opponents before. First, they call you names and try to turn those names into crimes. Then, if that fails- they go after your source of income.
It’s war. It’s open war.
If you follow their ideas and behavior to their logical conclusion- it’s impossible not to see that they want you homeless and hungry- unemployed and unable to speak. It’s sick and disgusting and it is not what this country was created to play host to.
When the IRS was caught red-handed using its terrifying power to frighten and intimidate members of the Tea Party, Barack Obama couldn’t talk his way out of it. He admitted that what he did was wrong and promised it would never happen again. Well, it is happening again.
Four vulnerable Democrats who are up for reelection in 2020 asked the IRS to fast track a bill that would stop conservative groups from launching attack ads against them. Senator Shaheen argued that taxpayers “should not be providing a write-off to groups to do political activity, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
Rep Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) takes it one step further. “It’s about disclosure. Nowhere in the Bill of Rights does it say you have the right to say anything you want – and also not pay any taxes.’”
These Democrats are not just concerned representatives of their constituents looking to promote fair discussion. These are people who are up for reelection this coming November and are looking to silence anyone who argues against their next terms.
Democrats are proposing a new tax specifically on conservative political organizations like the NRA for using their Constitutional right to free speech.
If Pascrell’s name rings a bell- it should. He is a co-sponsor of a bill that is intended to add an additional 20% tax on all firearms and ammunition sales.
Interestingly, it isn’t just groups promoting conservative political candidates that are coming under fire from Democrats asking the IRS to fight their battles for them. The NRA has also become a target.
ABC News Radio reported on pressure from Democrats to leverage a tax on conservatism, saying;
“A Democratic lawmaker has asked the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the National Rifle Association in light of ongoing allegations of financial mismanagement within the organization.
Rep. Brad Schneider, an Illinois Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee, sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig Thursday to ‘strongly encourage you to investigate recent reports of possible wrongdoing by the National Rifle Association,’ and ‘respectfully ask that you review whether the recent allegations against the NRA warrant reconsideration of the organization’s tax-exempt status,’ in light of allegations of self-dealing first published by The New Yorker.
Schneider also raised concerns about the NRA during a Ways and Means Committee hearing on Thursday.”
This recent attempt by Democrats to use the power of the federal government to tax and criminalize conservative voices is really just politics as usual. It is proof positive that their ideology and their way of governing is part of a path toward greater top-down control in a ceaseless march toward totalitarianism.
