5 Times Armed Citizens Saved the Day Last Month

We all know that good guys do good things with their guns on a regular basis. Instead of relying on abstract concepts, sometimes we need to be reminded of the reality of this situation. The mainstream media sure won’t tell you about these stories so you have to rely on outlets like us that don’t commit to the anti-gun agenda to tell you about what’s really going on in the world.

Never Too Old

Ernesto Del Monte is an 80-year-old man living in Florida. In May, he was unexpectedly attacked. His assailant, Julio Perez-Delgado, pepper sprayed him, punched him and demanded money.

The sudden violence caught Del Monte off guard, but he quickly recovered his wits. He pulled his firearm and turned the tables on Delgado. The quick gunshot ended the violence, and Delgado was taken to a hospital.

While Del Monte did receive injuries, there’s no question that his actions protected his own life and potentially saved other lives down the road.

Here’s the interesting twist on this particular story. The attacker, Delgado, is 73 years old. It just proves that no one is too old to commit or stop crime.

West Philly

On the opposite side of the country, an act of violence in West Philly had a different tone and outcome. In this case, an unnamed 43-year-old male was causing trouble in a West Philadelphia neighborhood. The term “terrorized” has been used.

In short, this man was deeply under the influence, and his erratic and violent behavior was difficult to handle. He punched cars, screamed at and punched people and through heavy rocks at people and property. Left unchecked, it was only a matter of time before someone was going to get seriously injured or killed.

That’s when our young hero entered the scene. He tried to talk down the crazy man and diffuse the situation. There was no chance. The situation escalated, and the young man was forced to use his firearm. One shot to the knee ended the confrontation. The older man is in stable condition, and the young man was a hero to his neighborhood.

Hatchet

This event took place in Oregon, also in May. A masked man entered a Plaid Pantry, pulled out a hatched and approached the counter threateningly. The clerk, understandably frightened by the situation, didn’t wait for a demand. He pulled out his firearm and brandished it at the assailant.

Hatchet Man’s response was swift and smart. He apologized and left the store. No one was injured.

This is a perfect example of how firearms regularly save lives. In most cases, their mere presence is enough to de-escalate the situation and prevent any violent crime from taking place. It’s hard to imagine that aggravated robbery with a hatchet could be anything less than a bloody nightmare. This firearm saved at least one life.

But, since this happened in Oregon, justice doesn’t factor into the equation. The clerk was fired from his job for defending his own life. Liberals. . .

Oh Chicago

No one reading this will be surprised that one of these stories took place in Chicago. It is the murder capital of western civilization, after all. Thankfully, this is one case where a good guy with a gun saved a life.

An unnamed 67-year-old man was robbed. The robber hit him repeatedly in the face and head, and took some undisclosed property from the older gentleman. In the brief respite from brutal violence, the older man was able to retrieve his firearm and end the confrontation. The young assailant was stabilized in the hospital and will now have to answer for his crimes.

Here’s the truth about civilians with guns. This older Chicago resident didn’t just save his own life. He likely put an end to a career in crime that inevitably would have brought violence to many more residents.

Disturbing Violence

This is easily the most gut-wrenching story in the bunch. In Utah, an 18-year-old woman was assaulted openly in the street. Her attacker brutally beat her, bit her, and then stomped on her head when she fell to the ground.

A passerby saw the attack and immediately intervened. The woman fled to hide behind her rescuer, and the civilian, gun in hand, tried to talk down the attacker. Instead, the violent man charged. Naturally, he was met with gunfire, and this monster of a man was killed.

Such violence against a young woman is a true nightmare for many of us. Thankfully, this hero showed up in time to prevent her injuries from becoming fatal. While she has a long road to recovery, she has that chance because a good guy with a gun stopped the bad guy.

This is five stories from May. It is a far cry short of listing every story. It’s just enough to remind you that the anti-gun narrative spread by the mainstream media is completely wrong. Every day, American lives are protected by firearms. Removing that protection will never be the path to security or freedom.
